On Wednesday, 11-25-2021. Redford Excavated began clearing for this project. On Wednesday, 12-01-2021. Redford had silt fencing installed at various locations around the clearing. Contractor had Sewer pipe delivered and they were mobilizing equipment for the start of this project. The rail road permit was acquired and the plans were signed by the City for construction.

On Monday 6-06-2022 Redford Excavation resumed air and vacuum testing of sewer system. Contractor completed and passed air testing for 30” PVC pipe from MH 54-002 to 54-003 to 54-004 to 54-005. Contractor passed vacuum test for MH 54-002 & MH 54-003. On Tuesday 6-07-2022 Contractor resumed air testing of all pipe located between MH’s 1 to 2, 3 to 4, 4 to 5 and 5 to 6. All 30”sewer pipe passed air testing to move interceptor pipe up stream.

On Thursday, 7-07-2022. Redford‘s testing group completed pressure air testing on 30” pipe between MH54-12 to 13 & from MH54-10 to 9. Testing passed pressure testing. On Friday, 7-08-2022. Redford Excavating resumed pressure testing of 30” lines between MH54-14 to 13. Section passed testing and held pressure for the allotted time.

On Monday, 1-24-2022. Redford Excavating began interceptor sewer installation. Contractor began at the south end of project digging bore pit for boring machine On Tuesday, 1-25-2022. The contractor resumed digging bore pit. Lime stone was encountered slowing removal of rock. The contractor also erected trench boxes in preparation for Sanitary Sewer installation. On Wednesday 1-26-2022. Redford Excavating resumed bore pit dig. Had break down and stop all removals. On Thursday, 1-27-2022. Redford resumed bore pit dig and contractor also installed trench boxes. On Monday, 1-31-2022 Redford Excavation completed clearing north of manhole 54-012. Contractor also began connecting temp sanitary piping for for proposed interceptors. On Tuesday, 2-01 thru Sunday 2-07-2022, the contractor did not work due to snow event. On Monday, 2-07-2022. Redford resumed clearing at the north end of the project and continued to connect interceptor temp pipe. On Tuesday, 2-08-2022. Redford Excavating resumed connecting temp sewer pipe. Project site very muddy. On Wednesday 2-09-2022 Redford Excavating resumed temp pipe connection for interceptor dropped off equipment.

On Monday 2-14-2022. Redford Excavating resumed clearing and stump grinding. Drill company pumped bore pit for concrete pour tomorrow for drill slab. On Tuesday, 2-15-2022. Auger Unlimited poured concrete slab for bore machine in bore pit. Redford Excavating resumed for timber removal and mulching at the north end of the sewer. On Wednesday, 2-16-2022. Contractor constructed and installed the track for the boring machine. Contractor also had Welch set silt fencing at the north end of the project. Contractor also completed mulching where silt fencing was eliminated.

On Monday, 2-21-2022. Augers Unlimited worked preparing placing augers inside steel casings. Contractor also removed fallen debris out of drill pit. Feb 23, 2022. Not working due to extreme cold! On Friday 2-25-2022. Contractor completed low levels of work. Auger repair, Auger machine engine repair and material identification. Contractor also had encasement pipe delivered. On Saturday, 2-26-2022. Augers Unlimited finally was able to set bore machine,auger and encasement in bore pit. Contractor faced numerous stoppages and set backs before boring first 8 to 9 ft. Auger seem to trail to the right a little so a shim was made and welded to the casing to prevent veering. Rail road inspectors were present with (3) Augers Unlimited workers and myself.

On Monday, 2-28-2022. Augers Unlimited resumed boring for sewer. Still having trouble getting proper alignment but drilled for the first encasement to enter hole. On Tuesday, 3-01-2022, contractor having issues with thawing of soil bank at auger entrance. Having to dig out debris that falling on the encasement. Contractor could not weld next casing before drilling can start up again. On Wednesday 3-02-2022. The contractor has added the next encasement pipe and auger to the existing encasement pipe. This process is time consuming due to the time it takes to weld the two casing together. Rail Road inspector and flagger are present. On Thursday, 3-03-2022 contractor resumed boring. Completed (1) section of pipe = (18ft) Redford mobilized pipe and placed it throughout sewer system. Safety officer visited project site and found bank around bore pit had began to collapse and contractor was asked to fill in in with dirt or hay bales. Hay bales were used. On Friday, 3-04-2022. The boring resumed. Next casing was welded and boring resumed. Materials (man holes, cast iron pipe and lactic pipe was brought out and stockpiled. Manholes were also placed on the west side of the the train tracks. On Sat. 3-05-2022. Boring resumed casing was welded on for next section (20ft) to be drilled. Was notified of a buffer area of 70ft from the center of the train tracks. 35ft each way - all boring has to be completed each day in a row until the 70ft zone has passed. Meaning weekends will be worked.

On Wednesday, 3-09-2022. Augers Unlimited resumed boring. Contractor has 30LF left to boring totally under the railroad tracks. No work on Thursday 3-10-2022 due to snow storm with accumulation. On Friday 3-11-2022. Contractor resumed boring. Drilled approx 15 LF of casing leaving approx 15 LF left to complete bore.

On Monday, 3-14-2022. Contractor Augers Unlimited bored final 15 ft of casing completing boring. Contractor Redford Excavating dug west pit to receive bore casing. Sunny 63 On Tuesday, 3-15-2022. Augars Unlimited began de-mobilization. Contractor removed all auger from the casings and started loading materials for removal. Redford Excavating completed digging west bore pit and mobilized bi-pass pumps to Man Hole 54-002. Contractor also mobilizing rock and new man hole to be installed. Sunny High -- 72 Wednesday, 3-16-2022. It was determined the bored 42 in casing installed is approx 2” to high at the out flow on the west side of the pit. All work has been stopped pending a solution and approval from the Rail Road. Redford Excavating cannot set man hole of any pipe. Cloudy Rain off and on 43 degrees Project stopped on Tuesday 3-16-2022. Augers Unlimited finished boring but found the final elevation on the out flow of the casing to be 2” high. Contractor sending Rail Road with a recommendation. All work has stopped.

Monday. 3-28-2022 - High 53 Sunny Redford Excavating began to place spacers on 30” plastic pipe for placement in steel casings bored under railroad tracks. Augers Unlimited and railroad tech are present as well. Contractor placed approx 140 LF of 30” PVC pipe. Cloudy 72 degrees Tuesday 3-28-2022, Contractor resumed sewer installation. Contractor placed MH A-1 and connected to existing 24 inch pvc sanitary sewer. Contractor connected 30” sewer to man hole. Augers Unlimited removed all equipment from bore pit and began to haul off all there materials. Cloudy cold and windy 40 high Wednesday, 3-30-2022 not working due to over night rain. Too wet.

On Monday, 4-04-2022. Redford Excavating set manhole A-2 and removed shoring from bore pit. Contractor back filled pit and Manhole. On Tuesday, 4-05-2022. Redford Excavating completed small amounts of grading getting ready for sewer install. Contractor preparing for sewer interception. Also Lance from water/pollution and a lady(engineer) came and pulled MH lids to check the debris found at MH A-1. They determined the system was working fine and no cleaning is necessary at this time.

Contractor resumed sewer installation and backfill of trench. Placed approx 80 LF of sewer. On Good Friday, 4-15-2022 (JMJ). Contractor resumed installation and backfilled of trench.

On Monday, 4-25-2022 Redford Excavating set MH- 006 and approx 300LF of 30” Sanitary Sewer pipe. 180ft of the pipe was set on Friday and backfilled. On Tuesday, 4-26-2022. The contractor resumed sewer installation at MH 006 and ductal pipe began to be installed. The first water crossing is approx 100’ and pipe will have a reinforced casing over the crossing. On Tuesday, 4-26-2022 and issue developed where the (4) sections of ductal pipe placed had to be removed because they leaked. The sections were removed and tomorrow the supplier will come and review this situation before we go any further. On Wednesday, 4-27-2022. The supplier came and determined the male insert end of the pipe sizes varied causing the leak from the bell and the male insert. We are waiting on and answer to fix this issue.

On Monday 5-09-2022, Redford Excavating installed approx. 80 LF, of 32” ductile pipe and placed reinforcing for the concrete incasement. Daniel for Redford Excavating performed pressure test for priory installed ductile pipe. Pipe held pressure test and contractor resumed pipe placement. On Tuesday and Wednesday 5-11-2022, I was in class all day and Steve Robins covered for me. The contractor placed enough ductile pipe to sat steel and pour the reinforced concrete incasement under the water crossing. On Thursday, 5-12-2022. The contractor had the testing lab out the perform compaction test over the sanitary Sewer. All test passed compaction. The contractor also poured inverts for (4) MH 2 thru 5. It was determined MH number A4 had a crack in the bottom man hole section. Manufacturing company with come out to seal the crack.

Redford began moving of the pumping staging up stream.

On Friday, 6-10-2022 thru Tuesday, 6-13-2022. Redford Excavating moved the interceptor pumps and pipe up to the next stretch of sewer to be installed. On Wednesday and Thursday, 6-13, and 6-14-2022. Redford installed MH # 9 and 10 with approx 400 LF of 30” PVC sewer pipe. Contractor also tied in 8’ section of 8” existing sewer pipe and back filled sewer section then poured invert for MH-9. Contractor moved from MH #10 to placing approx 80 LF of 30” DIP and back filled. JMJ On Friday 6-17 contractor installed approximately 80 LF of 30”sewer pipe. Contractor encased 30” in concrete with rebar framework @ water crossing (As-per plans).

Redford Excavating resumed sewer installation. Contractor set Man Hole #10 and installed approx 180 LF and back filled. On Wednesday, 6-22-2022. Contractor resumed sewer installation. Contractor broke bit on breaker and had it replace by 2:00 pm. Contractor installed approx 120 LF of 30” pvc and backfilled.

On Monday, 6-27-2022. Redford Excavating resumed sewer installation. Contractor moving slower due to rock excavation. 3 to 4 sections of pipe are installed. (50 LF) On Tuesday, 6-28-2022. Redford excavating resumed sewer installation. Contractor laid approx 70 LF of 30” pvc pipe and back filled larger portion of the pipe. On Wednesday, 6-29-2022. Same as day prior. Contractor hammering rock to set MH 54-13. Existing manhole was made incorrectly so new MH will be delivered on Thursday for installation. Contractor fell back to backfill and clean MH bases from debris to pour inverts. On Thursday, 6-30-2022. New Man Hole # 54-13 was brought out and placed and 3 sections of 30” pipe was laid and back field and compacted. (3) Man holes had inverts poured. Compaction test were taken over pipe at various locations and passed with 95% compaction. On Friday, 7-01-2022, The contractor laid (6) pieces of 30” plastic pipe and compacted pipe. The contractor placed lids for MH-10,11, 12 & 13. Contractor will shut down earlier due to July 4th holiday.

Contractor placed/installed Man Hole # 54-17 and laid approx 220 LF of sewer and back filled. Contractor pumped creek water and sprayed it on the rock and sub grade to try to keep down dust.

The contractor is moving the last pump interceptor. On Thursday, 9-15-2022. The contractor installed man hole 54-19 the final man hole to complete the sewer installation. Contractor connected the existing 12 “ pvc coming from the neighborhood. Also connected was the newly installed middle school. 15” sanitary sewer( by others) and poured invert to the man hole installed today.
