Butterfly valves are required for all water mains 12” or larger. Please revise gate valves to butterfly valves. The contractor will need to bevel the inside edge of the pipe connecting to the butterfly valve. Add a note requiring certification be provided to the Field Engineering Inspector upon delivery that the butterfly valves have passed a 192.5 psi test.

Include thrust blocks at plugged valves near tees.

Using 150% of normal operating pressure at the low point to test the new water main, the test pressure could be 200 psi for the DR 18 pipe and 271 psi for the DR 14 pipe which is within the pressure class of each pipe but is a lot of pressure. Testing the DR 18 and the DR 14 pipe together will place about 224 psi pressure on the low point of the DR 18 pipe.

Sheet 6: • The air relief assembly at Sta. 45+25 is supposed to have a brass saddle according the detail on sheet 9. Some brass saddles do not have the pressure rating for this location. For example, the Ford S90 saddle has a working pressure rating of 150 psi. A different type of saddle might be considered at this location. • There is still a “15’ Water Main easement” label near Sta. 38+00. Please revise.

General: The plans are now very clear regarding vertical deflections. Horizontal deflections must meet the same tolerance and don’t appear to show how this requirement is being met. Please clarify.

Sheet 3: • The Start Construction stationing shown on Plan and Profile views don’t match. Please revise as needed. • The proposed FH at Sta. 1+10.00 isn’t shown on the Profile view. • The Sta. 1+18.70 leader appears to be pointing to the incorrect location. Please revise. • The enlargement circle at Sta. 5+01.12 appears to be shown slightly off of the correct location. Please revise. • The FH stationing shown on the Plan and Profile views don’t seem to match. Please verify and revise where needed on this and all other Plan & Profile sheets.

Sheet 5: • There is a 5’ dimension pointing to what appears to be a valve symbol near Sta. 30+97.64. Please clarify. • The most upstream thrust block shown in the Profile view is located incorrectly graphically. • There is a water line shown in the Profile view above the existing grade line. Please clarify. • The existing grade leader is not pointing to the grade line. Please revise.

Sheet 6: The W/E is labeled as a 15’ Water Main Easement near Sta. 38+00, but other labels indicate it is a 20’ easement. Please revise as needed.

Sheet 8: • There are labels showing existing vertical pipe and a pipe filled with concrete that are unclear. Is this something in conflict with the proposed water line? Please clarify. • There are 2 labels for the class of pipe shown in the Profile view that don’t match. Please revise where needed.

Sheet 5: • Sta. 32+08.0 R/W stationing in the Profile view appears incorrect. Please revise. • Review the different grade line types between Sta. 32+00 and the north end of the project, they appear to be different in parts of that section. Revise as required.

Sheet 6: • Why is the Air Relief Assembly at Sta. 46+80 located in a section of pipe lower than sections each direction? Consider relocating. • Please add casing pipe for the main under the waterway between Sta. 37+00 and Sta. 38+00.

Sheet 7: • Replace the Air Release Valve at Sta. 53+23.46 with a Fire Hydrant. • What is the concrete vault for that is shown in Plan view at Sta. 53+29.16?

Sheet 8: How will Line B connect to the existing 6” main?
Corrective Action Required
03/11/2020

General: • Due to high pressure, a portion of this main will need to be C900 Class 305 rather than Class 200. Adding a Pressure release Valve could reduce the length of Class 305 pipe required. • Please clarify that any deflection angles greater than 1 degree will need to be spread over multiple sections of pipe so that no deflection is added to the pipe and no more than 1 degree of deflection is added within the joint.
