IBC 2902.3.1 Access - access to public toilet

2018 IBC 2902.3.1 Access. The route to the public toilet facilities required by Section 2902.3 shall not pass through kitchens, storage rooms or closets. Access to the required facilities shall be from within the building or from the exterior of the building. All routes shall comply with the accessibility requirements of this code. The public shall have access to the required toilet facilities at all times that the building is occupied. Action required: Access to restroom must be maintained. Restrict storage to left side of storage room to keep path to restroom clear and safe.

ICC A117.1 404.2.3.2 Swinging Doors Maneuvering Clearance

ICC A117.1 Section 404.2.3.2 Swinging Doors and gates. Swinging doors and gates shall have maneuvering clearances complying with Table 404.2.3.2. Action required: Minimum 18" clearance required at latch side of door next to mop sink. i.e. 18" minimum between latch side of door and new wall.

IBC 1209.2 Finish materials

2018 IBC 1209.2 Finish Materials. Walls, Floors and partitions in toilet and bathrooms shall comply with Sections 209.2.1 through 1209.2.4. 2018 1209.2.1 Floors and wall bases. In other than dwelling units, toilet, bathing and shower room floor finish materials shall have a smooth, hard, nonabsorbent surface. The intersections of such floors with walls shall have a smooth, hard, nonabsorbent vertical base that extends upward onto the walls not less than 4 inches. 2018 1209.2.2 Walls and partitions. Walls and partitions within 2 feet of service sinks, urinals and water closets shall have a smooth, hard, nonabsorbent surface, to a height of not less than 4 feet above the floor, and except for structural elements, the materials used in such walls shall be of a type that is not adversely affected by moisture. (See code section for possible exceptions.) Action required: Specify compliant finish materials at mop sink (and RR if finishes are new) are compliant. If paint is used it must be epoxy based.

IPC 802.1 Indirect/special waste

2018 IPC 802.1 Where required. Food-handling equipment, in other than dwelling units, clear-water waste, humidifiers, dish-washing machines and utensils, pots, pans and dishwashing sinks shall discharge though an indirect waste pipe as specified in Sections 802.1.1 through 802.1.8. Fixtures not required to be indirectly connected by this section and the exception to Section 301.6 shall be directly connected to the plumbing system in accordance with Chapter 7. Action required: Indirect drains required at 3-compartment sink and ice maker. Amend designs to demonstrate compliance. (floor sink may be required)

NEC Article 517.13 Grounding of receptacles patient care

2017 NEC Article 517.13 Grounding of Receptacles and Fixed Electrical Equipment in Patient Care Spaces. Wiring in patient care spaces shall comply with 517.13(A) and (B). (A) Wiring methods. All branch circuits serving patient care spaces shall be provided with an effective ground-fault current path by installation in a metal raceway system, or a cable having a metallic armor or sheath assembly. The metal raceway system, metallic cable armor, or sheath assembly shall itself qualify as an equipment grounding conductor in accordance with 250.118. (B) Insulated Equipment Grounding Conductors and Insulated Equipment Bonding Jumpers. (1) General. The following shall be directly connected to an insulated copper equipment grounding conductor that is clearly identified along its entire length by green insulation and installed with the branch circuit conductors in the wiring methods as provided in 517.13(A). 1. The grounding terminals of all receptacles other than isolated ground receptacles. 2. Metal outlet boxes, metal device boxes, or metal enclosures. 3. All non-current-carrying conductive surfaces of fixed electrical equipment likely to become energized that are subject to personal contact, operating at over 100 volts. (see code for exceptions) (2) Sizing. Equipment grounding conductors and equipment bonding jumpers shall be sized in accordance with 250.122. Action required: Modify drawings to show that all circuits in imaging room will have redundant ground system.
