It is possible that we have additional plan review comments once mechanical plans are received and reviewed. **Items to consider: - If any equipment is mounted on roof, we will need a letter from structural engineer to verify that the structure can support the weight. - Roof mounted equipment must be screened on all 4 sides by the parapets. - Ground mounted equipment will need to be screened on all 4 sides with either masonry or approved evergreen plantings.

IMC 507.1 Kitchen hoods where required

2018 IMC 507.1 General. Commercial kitchen exhaust hoods shall comply with the requirements of this section. Hoods shall be Type I or II and shall be designed to capture and confine cooking vapors and residues. A Type I or Type II hood shall be installed at or above appliances in accordance with Sections 507.2 and 507.3. Where any cooking appliance under a single hood requires a Type I hood, a Type I hood shall be installed. Where a Type II hood is required, a Type I or Type II hood shall be installed. Where a Type I hood is installed, the installation of the entire system, including the hood, ducts, exhaust equipment and makeup air system shall comply with the requirements of Sections 506, 507, 508 and 509. (see code for exceptions) Action required: Depending on what gets cooked in air fryer, either a Type I or Type II hood could be required. If grease laden vapors can be produced, a Type I system will be required. Absent of grease laden vapors a Type II hood will be required (with some exceptions) Provide menu or other method of verification.

MECHANICAL SCREENING. 1) Roof-top equipment not adequately screened by the building parapet, a supplementary screen around all sides of the equipment shall be provided, composed of materials including prefinished architectural metal panels, stucco panels, masonry walls, or similar building materials that are consistent with the overall architectural design and finish materials of the proposed building. The height of any supplementary screens shall be no lower than the height of the equipment it is intended to screen. Dash in the location of any RTUs on the building elevations for staff to review for compliance with the equipment screening requirement. 2) All ground-mounted building equipment, including, but not limited to, HVAC and mechanical equipment, power transformers, back-up power generators, shall be fully screened from view from adjacent public streets and residential properties with landscaping, masonry screen walls, decorative fencing, or a combination thereof.
