Please refer to comment #1 in the previous applicant letter. The response to comments states that notes were provided for constructability. However, this will not work as shown or noted. The detail you have provided is for a manhole frame and lid that is positioned within the geometric center of a driving lane, not the crown of a street. Please provide a re-design with the manhole frame and lids at the geometric center of a driving lane, not the crown of a street. (Informational Note: The manhole frame and lids installed in Napa Valley's latest phase were installed at the crown of the street, and exhibit a severe bump at each manhole).

Please refer to previous applicant letter. We requested a detail for a concrete collar placed around the manhole frame and lid. You provided the detail, but it will not function as you have designed the system. You have placed the manhole frame and lids in the geometric center of the road, and the detail provided is for manhole frame and lids centered within the driving lane. If you desire to place the manholes in the geometric center of the pavement, a different detail is needed. We would suggest, however, you place the sanitary sewer manhole frame and lids in the center of either driving lane. Otherwise, it will be difficult to construct anything resembling what you are showing. Please evaluate, review, and revise as appropriate.

Street patch in the form of concrete "collar" around each manhole installed within the streets are required. Please contact me if you need to see a detail used on previous projects. In general, a square around the manhole is required with KCMMB concrete eight (8) inches thick, with the square lined-up to reveal a diamond-shape as viewed driving down the lane. It may be beneficial to center the manholes in the driving lane rather than the center of the road to avoid crown issues. Please contact me to discuss.
