Codes Administration- A furnace installed on a roof or exterior wall of a building shall comply with the requirements for roof and wall structures specified in the Building Code, and the equipment shall be listed or approved for such use. Every furnace installed in or on an exterior wall of a building, which is designed so that the burners or controls must be serviced from outside the building, shall be readily accessible. Furnaces located on the roof shall be readily accessible. A permanent ladder shall be provided to access roof top units. (UMC Section 710)
