Such hardware shall be 34 inches minimum and 48 inches maximum above the floor or ground. Where sliding doors are in the fully open position, operating hardware shall be exposed and usable from both sides.

CA - 2000 IBC 1005.3.4 - Openings and penetrations. Exit passageway and vertical exit enclosures opening protectives shall be in accordance with the requirements of Section 714. Except as permitted in Section 402.4.6, openings in exit enclosures and exit passageways other than unexposed exterior openings shall be limited to those necessary for exit access to the enclosure from normally occupied spaces and for egress from the enclosure. When interior exit enclosures are extended to the exterior of a building by an exit passageway, the door assembly from the exit enclosure to the exit passageway shall be protected by a fire door conforming to the requirements in Section 714.2. Fire door assemblies in exit enclosures shall comply with Section 714.2.4. Elevators shall not open into an exit passageway.

CA - 2000 IBC 1005.3.4.1 - Penetrations. Penetrations into and openings through an exit enclosure assembly are prohibited except for required exit doors, equipment and duct work necessary for independent pressurization, spinkler piping, standpipes, and electrical conduit serving the exit enclosure and terminating at a steel box not exceeding 16 square inches. Such penetrations shall be protected in accordance with Section 711. There shall be no penetrations or communicating openings, whether protected or not, between adjacent exit enclosures.

Accessible rooms where multi single-user toilet or bathing rooms are clustered at a single location. 5. Accessible entrances where not all entrances are accessible. 6. The sign, where provided, shall be above the check-out aisle in the same location as the check-out aisle number or type of check-out identification. 7. Unisex toilet and bathing rooms. 8. Accessible dressing, fitting, and locker rooms where not all such rooms are accessible.

CA - 2000 IBC 901.5 - Fire protection systems shall be tested in accordance with the requirements of this code and the International Fire Code. When required, the tests shall be conducted in the presence of the building official. Tests required by this code, the International Fire Code and the standards of this code shall be conducted at the expense of the owner or the owner's representative. It shall be unlawful to occupy protions of a structure until the required fire protection systems within that portion of the structure have been tested and approved.

Fire Department: Where access to or within a structure or an area is restricted because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life-saving or fire-fighting purposes, the code official is authorized to require a key box to be installed in an accessible location. The key box shall be of an approved type and shall contain keys to gain access as required by the code official.

Fire Department; The required fire-resistance rating of fire-resistance-rated construction (including walls, fire stops, shaft enclosures, partitions and floors) shall be maintained. Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Fire Department. Construction documents for fire protection systems shall be submitted for review and approval prior to system installation. The plans and specifications shall bear a State of Missouri licensed engineers seal. This includes fire sprinkler systems, grease hood and duct suppression systems as well as other fire suppression system.

CA - 2000 IPC 403.1 - Minimum number of fixtures. Plumbing fixtures shall be provided for the type of occupancy and in the minimum number shown in Table 403.1. Types of occupancies not shown in Table 403.1 shall be considered individually by the code official. The number of occupants shall be determined by the International Building Code. Occupancy classification shall be determined in accordance with the International Building Code.

CA - LSCO 7-134 - Every permit issued shall become invalid unless the work on the site authorized by such permit is commenced within 180 days after its issuance, or if the work authorized on the site by such permit is suspended or abandoned for a period of 180 days after the time the work is commenced. Permits for exterior work, i.e., walls, fences, decks, patios, patio covers and similar type work requiring permits, as well as permits for residential room additions and remodels shall be limited to 180 days duration. Permits for other new construction shall be limited to one-year duration. The building official official is authorized to grant, in writing, one or more extensions of time, for periods not more than 180 days each.

CA - LSCO 7-162 - It shall be the duty of the holder of the permit or their duly authorized agent to notify the building official when work is ready for inspection. It shall be the duty of the permit holder to provide access to and means for inspection of such work for any inspections that are required by this code. Inspection requests shall be made in advance and in accordance with the most current written policies of the Codes Administration Department.

Duct smoke detectors shall not be used as a substitute for required open area detection. Exceptions: 1. The supervisory signal at a constantly attended location is not required where duct smoke detectors activate the building’s alarm notification appliances. 2. In occupancies not required to be equipped with a fire alarm system, actuation of a smoke detector shall activate a visible and an audible signal in an approved location. 3. Smoke detector trouble conditions shall activate a visible or audible signal in an approved location and shall be identified as air duct detector trouble.

Each door to an exit stairway shall have a tactile sign, including raised letters and Braille, stating: EXIT. 3. At exits and elevators serving a required accessible space, but not providing an approved accessible means of egress, signs shall be installed indicating the location of accessible means of egress.

CA - 2000 IBC 1109.2 - Directional signage. Directional signage indicating the route to the nearest like accessible element shall be provided at the following locations. These directional signs shall include the International Symbol of Accessibility: 1. Inaccessible building entrances. 2. Inaccessible public toilets and bathing facilities. 3. Elevators not serving an accessible route. 4. At each separate-sex toilet and bathing room indicating the location of the nearest unisex toilet or bathing room where provided in accordance with Section 1108.2.1.

Elevator machine rooms and machinery spaces shall be enclosed with construction having a fire-resistance rating not less than the required rating of the hoistway enclosure served by the machinery. Openings shall be protected with assemblies having a fire-resistance rating not less than that required for the hoistway enclosure doors.

Elevator machine rooms that contain solidstate equipment for elevator operation shall be provided with an independent ventilation or air-conditioning system to protect against the overheating of the electrical equipment. The system shall be capable of maintaining temperatures within the range established for the elevator equipment.

CA - 2000 IBC 3002.3 - Emergency signs. - An approved pictorial sign of a standardized design shall be posted adjacent to each elevator call station on all floors instructing occpants to use the exit stairways and not to use the elevators in case of fire. The sign shall read: IN FIRE EMERGENCY, DO NOT USE ELEVATOR. USE EXIT STAIRS. The emergency sign shall not be required for elevators that are part of an accessible means of egress complying with Section 1003.2.13.3.

In the event of power supply failure, an emergency system shall automatically illuminate all of the follow areas: 1. Exit access corridors, passageways, and aisles in rooms and spaces which require two or more means of egress. 2. Exit access corridors and exit stairways located in buildings required to have two or more exits. 3. Interior exit discharge elements, as permitted in Section 1006.1, in buildings required to have two or more exits. 4. The portion of the exterior exit discharge immediately adjacent to exit discharge doorways in buildings required to have two or more exits.

CA - 2000 IBC 1003.3.1.4 - Floor Elevation. There shall be a floor or landing on each side of a door. Such floor or landing shall be at the same elevation on each side of the door. Landings shall be level except for exterior landings, which are permitted to have a slope not to exceed 0.25 unit vertical in 12 units horizontal.
