The special inspector shall furnish inspection reports to the building official, and to the registered design professional in responsible charge. Reports shall indicate that work inspected was done in conformance to approved construction documents. Discrepancies shall be brought to the immediate attention of the contractor for correction. If the discrepancies are not corrected, the discrepancies shall be brought to the attention of the building official and the registered design professional in responsible charge prior to the completion of that phase of the work. A final report of inspections documenting required special inspections and correction of any discrepancies noted in the inspections shall be submitted periodically at a frequency agreed upon by the permit applicant and the building official prior to the start of work.

CA - 2000 IBC 1109.1 - Required accessible elements shall be identified by the International Symbol of Accessiblity at the locations listed in Section 1109.1. 1. Not applicable as the zoning ordinance is more restrictive. 2. Accessible passenger loading zones. 3. Accessible areas of refuge required by Section 1103.2.13.5. 4. Accessible rooms where multi single-user toilet or bathing rooms are clustered at a single location. 5. Accessible entrances where not all entrances are accessible. 6. Accessible check-out aisles where not all aisles are accessible. The sign, where provided, shall be above the check-out aisle in the same location as the check-out aisle number or type of check-out identification. 7. Unisex toilet and bathing rooms. 8. Accessible dressing, fitting, and locker rooms where not all such rooms are accessible.

CA - 2000 IBC 901.5 - Fire protection systems shall be tested in accordance with the requirements of this code and the International Fire Code. When required, the tests shall be conducted in the presence of the building official. Tests required by this code, the International Fire Code and the standards of this code shall be conducted at the expense of the owner or the owner's representative. It shall be unlawful to occupy protions of a structure until the required fire protection systems within that portion of the structure have been tested and approved.

CA - 2000 IBC 1005.3.2.1 - Exterior walls of a vertical exit enclosure shall comply with the requirements of Section 704 for exterior walls. Where nonrated walls or unprotected openings enclose the exterior of the stairway and the walls or openings are exposed by other parts of the building at an angle of less than 180 degrees, the building exterior walls within 10 feet horizontally of a nonrated wall or unprotected opening shall be constructed as required for a minimum 1-hour fire-resistance rating with 0.75-hour opening protectives. This construction shall extend vertically from the ground to a point 10 feet above the topmost landing of the stairway or to the roof line, whichever is lower.

CA - 2000 IBC 1003.3.3.11.5 - Handrail extension. Handrails shall return to a wall, guard or the walking surface or shall be continuous to the handrail of an adjacent stair flight. Where handrails are not continous between flights, the handrails shall extend horizontally at least 12 inches beyond the top riser and continue to slope for the depth of one tread beyond the bottom riser.

CA - 2000 IBC 1003.3.1.4 - Floor Elevation. There shall be a floor or landing on each side of a door. Such floor or landing shall be at the same elevation on each side of the door. Landings shall be level except for exterior landings, which are permitted to have a slope not to exceed 0.25 unit vertical in 12 units horizontal.

CA - 2000 IBC 1003.2.12 - Guards. Guards shall be located along open-sided walking surfaces, mezzanines, industrial equipment platforms, stairways, ramps and landings which are located more than 30 inches above the floor or grade below. Guards shall be adequate in strength and attachment in accordance with Section 1607.7. Guards shall also be located along glazed sides of stairways, ramps and landings that are located more than 30 inches above the floor or grade below where the glazing provided does not meet the strength and attachment requirements in Section 1607.7. In addition, guards are required at retaining walls over 30 inches above grade when walking surfaces are within 10 feet of the high side of the retaining wall. (As amended in the Lee's Summit Code of Ordinances, Chapter 7, Section 7-216.)

CA - 2000 IBC 1003.3.1.6 - Thresholds. Thresholds at doorways shall not exceed 0.75 inch in height for sliding doors serving dwelling units or 0.5 inch for other doors. Raised thresholds and floor level changes greater then 0.25 inch at doorways shall be beveled with a slope not greater than one unit vertical in two units horizontal (50-percent slope).

CA - 2000 IBC 1003.2.11.2 - Illumination emergency power. The power supply for means of egress illumination shall normally be provided by the premise's electrical supply. In the event of power supply failure, an emergency system shall automatically illuminate all of the follow areas: 1. Exit access corridors, passageways, and aisles in rooms and spaces which require two or more means of egress. 2. Exit access corridors and exit stairways located in buildings required to have two or more exits. 3. Interior exit discharge elements, as permitted in Section 1006.1, in buildings required to have two or more exits. 4. The portion of the exterior exit discharge immediately adjacent to exit discharge doorways in buildings required to have two or more exits.

CA - 2000 IBC 3002.1 - Hoistway enclosure protection. Elevator, dumbwaiter and other hoistway inclosures shall have a fire-resistance rating not less than that specified in Chapter 6 and shall be constructed in accordance with Chapter 7.

CA - 2000 IBC 3002.3 - Emergency signs. - An approved pictorial sign of a standardized design shall be posted adjacent to each elevator call station on all floors instructing occpants to use the exit stairways and not to use the elevators in case of fire. The sign shall read: IN FIRE EMERGENCY, DO NOT USE ELEVATOR. USE EXIT STAIRS. The emergency sign shall not be required for elevators that are part of an accessible means of egress complying with Section 1003.2.13.3.

Elevator machine rooms and machinery spaces shall be enclosed with construction having a fire-resistance rating not less than the required rating of the hoistway enclosure served by the machinery. Openings shall be protected with assemblies having a fire-resistance rating not less than that required for the hoistway enclosure doors.

CA - 2000 IBC 3006.5 - Shunt trip. Where elevator hoistways or elevator machine rooms containing elevator control equipment are protected with automatic sprinklers, a means installed in accordance with NFPA 72, Section 3-8.15, Elevator Shutdown, shall be provided to disconnect automatically the main line power supply to the affected elevator prior to the application of water. This means shall not be self-resetting. The activation of sprinklers outside the hoistway or machine room shall not disconnect the main line power supply.

Such elements shall be properly repaired, restored or replaced when damaged, altered, breached or penetrated. Openings made therein for the passage of pipes, electrical conduit, wires, ducts, air transfer openings, and holes made for any reason shall be protected with approved methods capable of resisting the passage of smoke and fire. The plans and specifications shall bear a State of Missouri licensed engineers seal. This includes fire sprinkler systems, grease hood and duct suppression systems as well as other fire suppression system.

Fire Department: Fire detection and alarm systems, fire-extinguishing systems, fire hydrant systems, fire standpipe systems, fire pump systems, private fire service main and all other fire protection systems and appurteances thereto shall be subject to acceptance tests as contained in the installation standards and as approved by the code official. Fire Department- 907.12 Duct smoke detectors. Duct smoke detectors shall be connected to the building’s fire alarm control panel when a fire alarm system is provided. Activation of a duct smoke detector shall initiate a visible and audible supervisory signal at a constantly attended location. Duct smoke detectors shall not be used as a substitute for required open area detection. Exceptions: 1. The supervisory signal at a constantly attended location is not required where duct smoke detectors activate the building’s alarm notification appliances. 2. In occupancies not required to be equipped with a fire alarm system, actuation of a smoke detector shall activate a visible and an audible signal in an approved location. 3. Smoke detector trouble conditions shall activate a visible or audible signal in an approved location and shall be identified as air duct detector trouble.

CA - 2000 IMC 602.2.1 - Except as required by Section 602.2.1.1 through 602.2.1.4, materials exposed within plenumbs shall be noncombustible or shall have a flame spread index of not more than 25 and a smoke-developed index of not more than 50 when tested in accordance with ASTM E 84.

Permits for other new construction shall be limited to one-year duration. Exception: Concrete floor in contact with the earth need not be insulated. c) Roof assemblies forming portions of a building envelope shall meet or exceed an R factor of 19.
