Fire Department: Medical gas systems including, but not limited to, distribution piping, supply manifolds, connections, pressure regulators, and relief devices and valves, shall comply with NFPA 99 and the general provisions of this chapter. Documentation shall be provided of the pressure test of at least 150 psi for a minimum of 24 hours on installers letterhead.

CA - ANSI A117.1-1998 404.2.7 - Door Hardware. Handles, pulls, latches, locks, and other operable parts on accessible doors shall have a shape that is easy to grasp with one hand and does not require tight grasping, pinching, or twisting of the wrist to operate. Such hardware shall be 34 inches minimum and 48 inches maximum above the floor or ground. Where sliding doors are in the fully open position, operating hardware shall be exposed and usable from both sides.

CA - 1999 NEC 110-26 (a) (2) - Width of working space. The width of the working space in front of the electric equipment shall be the width of the equipment or 30 in. (762 mm), whichever is greater. In all cases, the work space shall permit at least a 90 degree opening of equipment doors or hinged panels.

CA - 1999 NEC 110-26 (a) (3) - Height of working space. The work space shall be clear and extend from the grade, floor, or platform to the height required by Section 110-26(e). Within the height requirements of this section, other equipment associated with the electrical installation located above or below the electrical equipment shall be permitted to extend not more than 6 inches (153 mm) beyond the front of the electrical equipment.

Individual glazed areas, including glass mirrors, in hazardous locations as devined in Section 2406.2 shall pass the test requirements of CPSC 16 CFR 1201, listed in Chapter 35. Glazing shall comply with the CSPC 16 CFR, Part 1201 criteria for Category I or Category II as indicated in Table 2406.1.

Fire Department; IFC 1003.3.1.8 Egress doors shall be readily openable from the egress side without the use of akey or special knowledge or effort. Exit doors shall not be locked, chained, barred, latched or otherwise rendered unusable. All locking devises shall be of an approved type. IFC 1003.3.1.8

1003.2.10.1 Fire Department- Where required. Exits and exit access doors shall be marked by an approved exit sign readily visible from any direction of egress travel. Access to exits shall be marked by readily visible exit signs in cases where the exit or the path of egress travel is not immediately visible to the occupants. Exit sign placement shall be such that no point in an exit access corridor is more than 100 feet (30 480 mm) from the nearest visible exit sign.

Fire Department; Egress from a room or space shall not pass through adjoining or interven-ing rooms or areas, except where such adjoining rooms or areas are accessory to the area served; are not a high-hazard occupancy; and provide a discernible path of egress travel to an exit. Egress shall not pass through kitchens, store rooms, closets or spaces used for similar purposes. An exit access shall not pass though a room which can be locked to prevent egress. IFC 1004.2.3

Fire Department; A 1-hour exterior room shall be a room or enclosure separated from the remainder of the building by not less than 1-hour-rated fire-resistance rated construction. Openings between the room or enclosure and interior spaces shall be self-closing smoke and draft-control assemblies having a fire protection rating of not less than 1 hour. Rooms shall have at least one exterior wall which is provided with at least two vents. Each vent shall not be less than 36 square inches (0.023 m 2 ) in area. One vent shall be within 6 inches (152 mm) of the floor and one shall be within 6 inches (152 mm) of the ceiling. Rooms shall be provided with at least one automatic sprinkler to provide container cooling in case of fire. IFC 3006.2.1

Fire Department; Medical gases shall be stored in areas dedicated to the storage of such gases without other storage or uses. Where containers of medical gases in quantities greater than the permit amount are located inside buildings, they shall be in a 1-hour exterior room, a 1-hour interior room or a gas cabinet in accordance with Section 3006.2.1, 3006.2.2 or 3006.2.3.

Fire Department; Combustible waste material creating a fire hazard shall not be allowed to accumulate in buildings or structures or upon premises. Combustible debris, waste materials and trash shall not be burned on site.

Fire Department; Dumpsters and containers with an individual capacity of 1.5 cubic yards (40.5 cubic feet) or more shall not be stored in buildings or placed within 5 feet of combustible walls, openings or combustible roof eave lines.

Fire Department; New and existing buildings shall have approved address numbers, building numbers, placed in a position to be plainly legible and visible from the street or road fronting the property. These numbers shall contrast with their background.

Fire Department; Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor cove-ings, nor shall such cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact.

Fire Department. Construction documents for fire protection systems shall be submitted for review and approval prior to system installation. The plans and specifications shall bear a State of Missouri licensed engineers seal. This includes fire sprinkler systems, grease hood and duct suppression systems as well as other fire suppression system.

Fire Department: Fire detection and alarm systems, fire-extinguishing systems, fire hydrant systems, fire standpipe systems, fire pump systems, private fire service main and all other fire protection systems and appurteances thereto shall be subject to acceptance tests as contained in the installation standards and as approved by the code official. The code official shall be notified before any required acceptance testing. NOTE: Acceptance testing shall be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance by calling (816) 969-7343.

Fire Department; Portable fire extinguishers shall be installed in occupancies and locations as set forth in the IFC Sec. 906 and as required by the Code Offical. Fire extinguishers shall be selected, installed and maintained in accordance with this section and NFPA 10.

Fire Department- 907.12 Duct smoke detectors. Duct smoke detectors shall be connected to the building’s fire alarm control panel when a fire alarm system is provided. Activation of a duct smoke detector shall initiate a visible and audible supervisory signal at a constantly attended location. Duct smoke detectors shall not be used as a substitute for required open area detection. Exceptions: 1. The supervisory signal at a constantly attended location is not required where duct smoke detectors activate the building’s alarm notification appliances. 2. In occupancies not required to be equipped with a fire alarm system, actuation of a smoke detector shall activate a visible and an audible signal in an approved location. 3. Smoke detector trouble conditions shall activate a visible or audible signal in an approved location and shall be identified as air duct detector trouble.

CA - 2000 IMC 403.3 - Ventilation systems shall be designed to have the capacity to supply the minimum outdoor airflow rate determined in accordance with Table 403.3 based on the occupancy of the space and the occupant load or other perameter as stated therein. The occupant load utilized for design of the ventilation system shall not be less then the number determined from the estimated maximum occupant load rate indicated in Table 403.3. Ventilation rates for occupancies not represented in Table 403.3 shall be determined by an approved engineering analysis. The ventilation system shall be designed to supply the required rate of ventilation air continuously during the period the building is occupied, except as otherwise stated in other provisions of the code.

CA - 2000 IMC 701.2 - Combustion and dilution air required. Every room or space containing fuel-burning appliances shall be provided with combustion and dilution air as required by this code. Combustion and dilution air shall be provided in accordance with Section 702, 703, 704, 705, 706 or 707 or shall be provided by an approved engineered system. Direct vent appliances or equipment that do not draw combustion air from inside of the building are not required to be considered in the determination of the combustion and dilution air requirements. Combustion air requirements shall be determined based on the simultaneous operation of all fuel-burning appliances drawing combustion and dilution air from the room or space.

CA - 2000 IMC 306.2 - Appliances in rooms. Rooms containing appliances requiring access shall be provided with a door and an unobstructed passageway measuring not less than 36 inches (914 mm) wide and 80 inches (2032 mm) high.

CA - 2000 IPC 308.5 - Pipe shall be supported in accordance with Table 308.5.

CA - 2000 IPC 312.1 - Required tests. The permit holder shall make the applicable test prescribed in Sections 312.2 through 312.9 to determine compliance with the provisions of this code. The permit holder shall give reasonable advance notice to the code official when the plumbing work is ready for tests. The equipment, material, power and labor necessary for the inspection and test shall be furnished by the permit holder and the permit holder shall be responsible for determining that the work will withstand the test pressure prescribed in the following tests. All plumbing system piping shall be tested with either water or air. After the plumbing fixtures have been set and their traps filled with water, the entire drainage system shall be submitted to final tests. The code official shall require the removal of any cleanouts if necessary to ascertain if the pressure has reached all parts of the system. Note: Testing of the plumbing system is not required to be witnessed by the Codes Administration Staff with the exception of gas piping.

CA - LSCO Chapter7, Section 117 - Materials, equipment, and devices approved by the building official shall be constructed and installed in accordance with such approval.

CA - LSCO 7-134 - Every permit issued shall become invalid unless the work on the site authorized by such permit is commenced within 180 days after its issuance, or if the work authorized on the site by such permit is suspended or abandoned for a period of 180 days after the time the work is commenced. Permits for exterior work, i.e., walls, fences, decks, patios, patio covers and similar type work requiring permits, as well as permits for residential room additions and remodels shall be limited to 180 days duration. Permits for other new construction shall be limited to one-year duration. The building official official is authorized to grant, in writing, one or more extensions of time, for periods not more than 180 days each.

CA - LSCO 7-162 - It shall be the duty of the holder of the permit or their duly authorized agent to notify the building official when work is ready for inspection. It shall be the duty of the permit holder to provide access to and means for inspection of such work for any inspections that are required by this code. Inspection requests shall be made in advance and in accordance with the most current written policies of the Codes Administration Department.

CA - LSCO7-168 - The building official is authorized to issue a temporary certificate of occupancy before the completion of the entire work covered by the permit, provided that such portion or portions shall be occupied safely. The building official shall set a time period during which the temporary certificate of occupancy is valid.

CA - 1999 NEC 110-26(f).(1).(b) - Foreign Systems. The space equal to the width and depth of the equipment shall be kept clear of foreign systems unless protection is provided to avoid damage from condensation, leaks, or breaks in such foreign systems. This zone shall extend from the top of the electrical equipment to the structural ceiling.

CA - 1999 NEC 110-26(b) - Working space required by this section shall not be used for storage. When normally enclosed live parts are exposed for inspection or servicing, the working space, if in a passage way or general open space, shall be suitably guarded.

CA - 1999 NEC 250-104(a) - Metal water piping. The interior metal water piping system shall be bonded as required in (1), (2), (3), or (4) of this section. The bonding jumper shall be installed in accordance with Section 250-64(a), (b), and (e). The points of attachment of the bonding jumper(s) shall be accessible.

CA - 1999 NEC 250-104(b) - Metal gas piping. Each aboveground portion of a gas piping system upstream from the equipment shutoff valve shall be electrically continuous and bonded to the grounding electrode system.
