Codes Administration- Except within individual dwelling units, guest rooms and sleeping rooms, exits shall be illuminated at any time the building is occupied with light having intensity of not less than 1 foot-candle at floor level. The power supply for exit illumination shall normally be provided by the premises' wiring system. In the event of its failure, illumination shall be automatically provided from an emergency system for group I, Division1.1 and 1.2 occupancies and for all other occupancies where the exiting system serves an occupant load of 100 or more. Emergency systems shall be supplied from storage batteries or an on-site generator system and the system shall be installed in accordance with the requirements of the Electrical Code. Duct penetrations of the ceiling of fire-resistive floor-ceiling or roof-ceiling assemblies shall be protected in accordance with Section 4305(b). 5. Duct penetrations through protective elements of fire-rated coridor walls. Such dampers shall be combination fire/smoke dampers conforming to UBC Standards Nos. 43-7 and 43-12 with a minimum leakage classification of III. 6. Ducts that are not a part of the smoke-control system, penetrating atrium walls or ceilings as defined in Section 1716(c). (1991 Uniform Building Code, Section 4306(j).) Unless specifically tested, provide a fire damper in FCU duct penetration through corridor wall.
