Fire Department- A control shall be provided that will allow the pump to operate only when a dispensing nozzle is removed from its bracket or normal position with respecat to the dispensing unit and the switch on the dispensing unit is manually activated. This control shall also stop the pump when all nozzles have been returned, either to their brackets or to the normal nondispensing position. Electrical conditions shall also comply with the following:
1. A clearly labeled, manually operated pump master switch shall be provided in an approved location within 75 feet of, but not nearer than 15 feet to, any dispenser. Where such master switch is not visable from all dispensers, the location therof shall be indicated by approved signs,
2. Signs identifying the pump master switch shall be labeled EMERGENCY PUMP SHUTOFF, and
3. The master switch on all individual pump circuits switches shall be set in the "off" position before closing the motor vehicle fuel-dispensing station for buisness at any time.

Fire Department- A fire extinguisher with a minimum rating of 2-A.20-B:C shall be provided and located such that it is not more than 75 feet from any pump, dispenser or fill-pipe opening. UFC Section 79.908

Fire Department- Smoking and open flames shall be prohibited in areas used for fueling with or dispensing of Class I, II or II-A liquids. The motors of vehicles being fueled shall be stopped. Conspicuous signs prohibiting smoking, prohibiting dispensing into unproved containers, and requiring vehicle motors to be stopped during fueling operations shall be posted within sight of each customer being served. Fire Department- Extension cords shall not be utilized as a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords shall only be utilized with portable appliances while such appliances are in use and shall only supply one portable appliance except for approved multi-plug extension cords. Extension cords shall be grounded when serving grounded appliances. Extension cords and multi-plug extension cords shall not be affixed to structures; extened through walls, ceilings, floors, under doors or floor coverings; or be subject to environmental or physical damage. (UFC Section 85.106.(a), (b) and (c))

Fire Department- Dispensing equipment shall comply with one of the following: (i) The amount of fuel being dispensed is limited in quantity by a preprogrammed card, (ii) Dispensing devices are programmed or set to limit uninterrupted fuel delivery to 25 gallons and require a manual action to resume continued delivery, or (iii) Product delivery hoses are equipped with alisted emergency breakaway device designed to retain liquid on both sides of the breakaway point. Such devices shall be installed and maintained in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. (1991 Uniform Fire Code, Section 79.903(f).2.C.)
