The system installed to protect ventilating hoods and ducts and cooking appliances shall be installed to include cooking surfaces, deep fat fryers, griddles, upright broilers, charbroilers, range tops and grills. Protection shall also be provided for the enclosed plenum space within the hood above filters and exhaust ducts serving the hood. UFC 10.513

When two or more exits are required from a room or area, exit signs shall be installed at the required exits from the room or area and where otherwise necessary to clearly indicated the direction of egress. Exit signs shall be illuminated either internally or externally in accordance with the Building Code. Where emergency power supplies are required for exit illumination, exit signs shall be illuminated by emergency power. (UFC Section 12.111)

Fire Department- Extension cords shall not be utilized as a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords shall only be utilized with portable appliances while such appliances are in use and shall only supply one portable appliance except for approved multi-plug extension cords. Extension cords shall be grounded when serving grounded appliances. Extension cords and multi-plug extension cords shall not be affixed to structures; extened through walls, ceilings, floors, under doors or floor coverings; or be subject to environmental or physical damage. Codes Administration- Smoke detectors required by Subsection (a) shall be installed in the main return-air duct ahead of any outside-air inlet or they may be installed in each room or space served by the return-air duct. Detectors shall also be installed in the supply duct, downstream of the filters. Activation of any detector shall cause the air-moving equipment to automatically shut down.
